Also, if you've visited me here before you might notice that some other elements have had a makeover. The background image and the tabs in the sidebar are cut from the papers I painted a few days ago. I may or may not leave them up (It's a bit busy, I know.) but I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate the colorful, happy things that have been happening in my studio this month.
I cannot say enough about how participating in Art Every Day Month has energized my creativity. It's funny...I remember checking it out before and thinking there is absolutely no way I could post every single day for a month. Well, I came pretty close and I made some new friends along the way!
Finally, finally I am posting more of my own artwork and that feels great. I was so shy about it for so long (feelings of inferiority and all that nonsense held me back). Sharing my pieces here has really helped me get over the "fear" of rejection that so often paralyzed me. Everyone here has been so supportive and encouraging. Now that I the proverbial hump is behind me, I'm really excited about the coming year of growth and learning.
I will continue to link up once a week at CreativeEveryDay,com.. If you haven't yet checked this site out I would highly recommend it. There are some amazing people involved and you will find lots of inspiration and support there.
To all of you who stopped by here regulary during this past month, thank you, thank you. Your visits have been awesome and your comments mean more than I can say. Please don't be a stranger!

ReplyDeleteThank you for all your visits and kind words, Kat! I love visiting your blog, as well!
DeleteYour profile picture is very nice, and I like the way you added your own art. Blogging is a good way to get your talent "out there" without a lot of risk. I have also become braver about sharing myself through blogging. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deborah. I'm so glad you stopped by. You're right about blogging...it really has helped me take a few more risks and I'm seeing the benefits in my art and my happiness level!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to have met you too, Patty. I'm so glad to know about Living Deep Studio. I love visiting you there.
DeleteAEDM is a wonderful way to meet other artists and get the friendship and support we all need. I also highly recommend Paint Party Friday (http://www.paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com) as another great place to meet incredibly supportive people. Everyone has been so kind to me and I have learned so much from them. I find the more I post my pastels the braver I become.
ReplyDeleteI love the light behind your profile picture and your reason for placing it there.
Thanks, Ginny. I am linking to Paint Party Friday this week and you are right! Already I've had visits from some wonderful people and I've really been inspired by the artwork I've viewed as well.

DeleteHi Janice, I love your rich textured art background and side buttons. I think your blog looks wonderful with your new art added. I really relate to your desire to be understood and accepted. I am always on that journey myself, and every little step we take helps doesn't it. I still hold my breath every time I post a new piece of mine for others to see. The Art Every Day challenge you looks amazing and I'm definitely going to check it out. And the Paint Party Fridays Ginny mentioned too. Thanks for the inspiration, and all the best! ~Ginger
ReplyDeleteHi, Ginger. You are so sweet to encourage me as you have. I hope you will definitely check both of these challenges out. I can't tell you how fun and encouraging it is to be a part of them.
