Contemplation

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long
as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature --
the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.

So many lovely things to contemplate in our woods today...

Seeds ready for flight.

A teeny-tiny bouquet.

New growth.

Wonderful, complex textures.

And the tall, tall beautiful-in-every-season canopy of trees.

See the nest way up in the tippy top of that tree?  I think it belongs to the red hawk that soars over our house from time to time.  Oh, I do love these woods.

    1. February sort-of is spring around here...flowers starting to show up in the nurseries, etc. Summer comes early and stays late, scorching hot. I'm sweating just thinking about it!

    1. Probably all of these images will make their way into paintings somehow. I've been collecting images (mentally, digitally, and in my sketchbook), trying to build a bigger "vocabulary" to use in my intuitive paintings. I like that moss, too...might look good in orange :-)

    1. My favorite way to look at trees is lying on my back looking up. I simply adore the way they look from that perspective.
