An interesting figure emerged recently as I was doodling around in Inkist. She moves freely, allowing life to unfold instead of pushing and striving and moving against the natural flow of things.
That's the intuitive path and it has its challenges. It takes a lot of trust and a real sense of adventure to be willing at each step to let go or change the plan entirely. Honestly, though, burdens become unbelievably lighter and new possibilities appear the moment you stop trying to control everything.
Today's sketch came about intuitively. It began as lots playful marks, just as the bird I posted on Friday did. I had no plan but at some point the stem and leaves of a flower began to appear in the marks.
Continuing to simplify and "work' the page, I noticed the figure of the girl emerge and mirror the gesture of the flower. It looked like a dance. The figure reaches for the light embracing its warmth. She is relaxed, moving to the unhurried rhythm of the beauty around her .
I wish I had taken process photos of this one so you could see how drastically it changed from one stage to the next. I did remember to save screen shots now and then on my most current project and will post them soon. It's fun to see how these intuitive pieces evolve. They are full of surprises!
I hope you find yourself in a place of rest and trust today. If something weighs heavy on your heart or mind, try to set it on the shelf for just a while and allow yourself time to recharge and rejuvenate. Trust that things will unfold as they should. Take a deep breath. Let go and dance in the light!

Beautiful, free sketches!
ReplyDeleteLove the sentiment behind this. And yes, when I first started with intuitive painting I was amazed at how liberating it felt, letting go of all the preconceived ideas of how your painting must look and just go with what you see. Love it!
