S is for Speechless

Yep, that's what I was...speechless, when I met this albino Great Dane today.  Apollo is his name and he's 170 pounds of gentle gorgeousness.  Amazingly, he is young and still has some growing to do.

You might also find this big guy to be sensational, striking, and well, maybe a little slobbery!  All this makes him a superb subject for ABC Wednesday since this week's letter is (you guessed it) "S"!

There is something magical about this enormous creature.  Hanging out with him for a little while was such a treat.  Apollo's owners must be used to getting lots of attention when he's with them.  They patiently answered my questions and let me take lots of photos.

Of course, once I got home I just had to make a journal page in honor of the day I met Apollo.  Just a simple one today.

Isn't he simply stunning in his crown?  I must say, I am quite smitten!

  7. Hey Janice! It's so fun to see what you've been up to! Looks like you're having a blast doing your creative thing and spreading cheer all around. I think Apollo might be the same dog ...We call him "White Dog". We didn't know his name. He frequently, almost daily, roams our property and visits our community. We've always wondered who owns him and what his name is. So funny to think I'd find out through your blog! He's been visiting our place for a couple of years now. If he's the same dog... He sure looks like it. Small world.

    1. Yes! He's the same dog! He and his owners live on your road, not very far from you. He is so, so gentle. I wonder, though, how I would feel if i didn't know him and he came walking through my yard. Might be a tad bit intimidating :-)

  8. yeesh...that first shot kind of put me off the beast, but if you say he was nice, I'll believe you! if I'd met him in person, I'd probably adore him, but that big, slobbery tongue does nothing for me in these photos!

    1. He truly is wonderful and, actually, he's not nearly as slobbery as one might think...just a little really and he's very well behaved, not licky or anything. He is a perfect gentleman.

  9. He came right up the steps to our back patio once and lumbered over the table to smell around. His head is huge... bigger than Terry's! We also think he is deaf because he never seems to acknowledge when we holler at him.
